3 Gibbon Philips Iron Quantification Protocol
Information for Scheduling the Exam
- All patients should be
scheduled on 3 Gibbon on the 1.5T Philips Achieva.
- There is no specific
patient preparation for this exam.
- No IV Gadolinium or oral
contrast is administered for this exam.
Information for MRI Technologists
Surface Coils
- Use Sense-XL Torso Coil for the entire exam except for the
Dual-Echo GRE series which should be performed with the Q-Body Coil.
Pulse Sequences
- BFFE survey (3 plane)
- SENSE Ref scan
- Multi-echo FFE Breathold (16 echoes for T2* mapping)
- Short axis cardiac gated mTFE through the mid left ventricle for cardiac iron
mapping
- Dual-echo GRE (20 degree
flip angle) using Q-Body coil
- Single Shot Axial T2 WI
- 4 Chamber BTFE CINE
through the left ventricle (for wall motion evaluation)
- Short axis BTFE CINE
through the left ventricle (for wall motion evaluation)
Notes:
·
m-FFE
T2* mapping scan
o
Note that artifact free images are more
important than coverage; keep breath-holds to <20 seconds.
o
A quantitative T2* map is generated by the
scanner.
