Each fellow conference is listed on the daily abdominal imaging resident/fellow schedules, indexed at

http://www.mri.tju.edu/body/abdomen.html .

Abdominal Imaging Fellows are expected, whenever possible, to attend all conferences listed with “*”, whether or not they are assigned primary responsibility. For other conferences, one or more fellows are designated as responsible, but attendance by others is option. Below, for each conference, a description of the conference and its role in fellow education is provided. Unless otherwise indicated, all conferences begin at 7:30 AM and are located in the main conference room on 7 Main.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY CONFERENCES

MUM (malignant ocular melanoma)

Every Monday in IR conference room (5 Gibbon)

Multidisciplanary discussions of ocular melanoma; imaging is used to guide decisions on embolization and other treatments. This conference will clarify the basis for our frequent use of MRI and CT to guide treatment of this large Jefferson population. The designated fellow, in consultation with the designated attending, will prepare the imaging for selected cases (usually the first 5 on the provided list) and provide a brief (2 minutes or less) presentation of the recent imaging findings relevant to management decisions (e.g. tumor location and change since prior exam). Each fellow should expect to present cases at 3 of these conferences during their fellowship.

HCC (hepatocellular carcinoma)

Every Tuesday in IR conference room (5 Gibbon), unless pre-empted by fellow-only ultrasound conferences.

Multidisciplanary discussions of HCC; imaging is used to guide decisions on embolization and other treatments. This conference will clarify the basis of our frequent use of MRI and CT to guide treatment of this large Jefferson population. The designated fellow, in consultation with the designated attending, will prepare the imaging for selected cases (usually the first 5 on the provided list) and provide a brief (2 minutes or less) presentation of the recent imaging findings relevant to management decisions (e.g. tumor location and change since prior exam). RADIOLOGY TEACHING CONFERENCES

*Ultrasound fellow-only conference

Selected Thursdays in room 780D, as scheduled by Dr. Guglielmo.

An attending and fellow are designated as responsible for bringing cases, or the attending will provide lecture. Please be sure to attend, since absences create a nearly empty room and are discourteous to those who prepare the conference.

*US resident/fellow conference

1st Thursday each month in the large conference room on 7 Main, given by attendings

*CT/MRI resident/fellow conference - All Friday AMs

These are a mix of case conferences presented by fellows, attending given CT conferences (didactic or case conferences), or journal club. Dr. Halpern presents Cardiac CT the 1st Friday each month, and Dr. Needleman will present the 2nd Friday each month, usually GI/GU cases.

*IR/CT/MRI case conference

Alternate 2nd Thursday AM in IR conference room (5 Gibbon)

Interesting cases are selected by IR with CT or MRI correlation. The IR and MRI/CT portions are presented by fellows from the respective services, followed by discussion.

US and CT conferences targeted to residents, with schedule posted on abdominal imaging page. Fellows are encouraged to attend if possible.
